Excavations. II.

   I believe that the only setback in the whole 22 day adventure of excavations for students of St. Peter's State were the accommodations that were presented to them. I think it is only fair that students were to tend to themselves:  buy provisions, cook for the whole party, clean. Each day two people were appointed to do just so. Unfortunately, the building where students were situated was not in, lets say, 'good' condition. Now, for a Russian the conditions weren't anything new, and we can pretty much endure anything but I know some of my friends from overseas will be quite shocked. Although, I might add that I do not wish to persuade you not to come visit Russia. This country is full of contradictions, and as much darkness there is so much light interwoven into the lives of simple people.

And that is the presumed kitchen and dining hall were girls cooked and everyone had breakfast and dinner.

I visited tha tfine establishment when Khris and Nastya ahd their turn cooking for the whole group.

Girls had to cook for a party of more than 20 people - almost 30. It's not an easy task with a tight budget. Girls always ended up adding their own money to be able to feed hungry tired students at dinner. And I can assure you that although the accommodations were far from suitable they always kept it as clean as possible and meals met all sanitation.  

And at luch time girls with the help of Yvan (one of the two gentlemen  from their group) had to carry sandwiches to the excavation site and they had a picknic every day on the grass right in the middle of kremlin. I believe that is an amazing experience but for all that the poor blokes were too tired to enjoy it to the fullest extent. 

As I said before - guys would be so tired that after the meal they would stretch out on the grass for the remainings of the hour.
